About The Author

William T. Segui

William T. Segui

Dr. William T. Segui is a Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering at The University of Memphis. He got his B.S.C.E, M.S., and Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. Since joining the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Memphis, he has received two ASEE/NASA Summer Faculty Fellowships at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama. William has worked several summers for various consulting firms and for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He received the University of Memphis Distinguished Teaching Award in 2000. He is also a Life Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a member of the Tennessee Structural Engineers Association. Bill is also a licensed professional engineer in the state of Tennessee.

The 5th edition of Segui’s STEEL DESIGN eBook (PDF) focuses on the basics of structural steel design with an emphasis on designing members and their connections, rather than the overall design of buildings. Instructors can teach ASD, LRFD, or both as needed. The book encourages the application of fundamental principles for design procedures and practical design, while still providing a theoretical approach to enhance an engineering student’s development. The Steel Design 5e Instructor Solutions are also available for purchase (Note: Only the Steel Design 5th edition PDF is included in this sale, with no online codes). Senior and junior-level engineering students can utilize most of the later chapters, while practicing engineers can use the textbook as an essential reference tool for reviewing their current practices. A new version of this book is available, and related eBooks are listed below.
