About The Author

Kathleen O. Korgen

Kathleen O. Korgen

Dr. Kathleen Odell Korgen is an associate professor of sociology at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. She enjoys showing her students how sociology is a very useful discipline and how "Sociologists in Action" make a difference in society. From Black to Biracial, Crossing the Racial Divide, Multiracial Americans and Social Class, Race Policy and Multiracial Americans are some of her published works on race relations and racial identity.

Professor Kogen's teaching textbooks include Our Social World, Sociologists in Action, The Engaged Sociologist, and Social Problems in Action, in addition to Sociology in Action. Kathy is also the editor of The Cambridge Handbook of Sociology (Cambridge University Press).

Race Policy and Multiracial Americans is a game-changing ebook by Korgen that explores the impact of multiracial people on race policies in the United States. This ebook is the first of its kind, shedding light on where race policies lag behind the growing numbers of multiracial individuals and how policymakers can leverage them to promote racial justice for multiracial Americans.

Using a critical mixed-race perspective, the ebook tackles crucial questions such as which policies aimed at combating racial discrimination should cover multiracial Americans, and if affirmative action programs should benefit all or some multiracial Americans. Moreover, the ebook also delves into understanding the education and health needs of multiracial Americans.

This ebook should be mandatory reading for sociology, political science, and public policy students, policymakers, and anyone interested in social justice and race relations. It provides insightful analyses and eye-opening revelations that challenge conventional thinking and broaden perspectives.
