Lehne’s Pharmacology for Nursing Care, 9th Edition is an eBook designed to provide readers with a comprehensive understanding of key drugs and their implications for nursing care. The book, written by nursing pharmacology instructors Jacqueline Burchum and Laura Rosenthal, has been praised by students as a favorite due to its simple yet informative explanations of drug prototypes and how they work.

The 9th edition features new quick-reference summaries of prototype drugs, safety alerts, and a stronger focus on QSEN. The authors have maintained the clear and unique writing style of Dr. Lehne while providing updates on the latest state-of-the-science information.

  • The new prototype drugs feature serves as an aid to quick learning.
  • The chapter outlines have page numbers, making it easier to locate topics quickly.
  • The safety alert features emphasize QSEN’s competency on patient safety.
  • The special interest topic boxes have been updated to engage the reader with current trending issues in pharmacology.
  • The engaging writing style with clear explanations makes complex pharmacology concepts easy to grasp and enjoyable to learn.
  • The Evolve companion website provides learning resources such as animations, case studies, video clips, and NCLEX exam-style review questions.
  • The focus on QSEN includes Patient-Centered Care Across the Life Span, highlighting safe and appropriate patient care during different phases of life.
  • The nursing implications of drug therapy are integrated throughout the textbook so readers can understand the vital relationship between drug therapy and nursing care.
  • The drug prototype approach focuses on one representative drug within each drug family that characterizes all members of its group. This allows readers to apply their knowledge to related drugs currently on the market and those that will be released in the future.
