Kenneth J. Guest

Kenneth J. Guest is a professor at Baruch College and the author of God in Chinatown: Religion and Survival in New York’s Evolving Immigrant Community (2003) which has been featured in has been featured in The New York Times, the BBC, National Public Radio, and other media venues. His research focuses on New York City, China, religion, immigration, and transnationalism. He has conducted fieldwork in the United States and China. A native of Florida, Ken studied Chinese at Middlebury College and Beijing University. He received his B.A. from Columbia University (East Asian Languages and Cultures), an M.A. from Union Theological Seminary (Religious Studies) and the M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from the City University of New York Graduate Center (Anthropology).
