About The Author

Martin Silberberg

Martin Silberberg

Dr. Martin S. Silberberg received his B.S. in chemistry from the City University of New York in 1966 and his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Oklahoma, in 1971. Dr. Martin then accepted a research position at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he studied the chemical nature of neurotransmission and Parkinson's disease. In 1977, he joined the faculty of Simon's Rock College of Bard (Massachusetts), a liberal arts college known for its excellence in teaching small classes of highly motivated college students. As Head of the Natural Sciences Major and Director of Premedical Studies, Martin taught courses in organic chemistry, biochemistry, general chemistry, and nonmajors chemistry. The close student contact afforded him insights into how college students learn chemistry, where they have difficulties, and what strategies can help them succeed. In 1983, Dr. Martin Silberberg decided to apply these insights in a broader context and established a textbook writing and editing company. Before writing his own book, he worked on biochemistry, chemistry, and physics texts for several major college publishers. He resides with his wife and child in Massachusetts. For relaxation, Martin sings, cooks, and walks in the woods.

Martin Silberberg and Patricia Amateis’ greatest-promoting Chemistry: The Molecular Nature of Matter and Change 9th International Edition (ePub/PDF) is considered an unequalled masterpiece within the area of common chemistry. We have been in a position to leverage knowledge from 1000’s of chemistry scholar responses to questions in Learn Smart, the adaptive studying system that assesses scholar mastery of course content material, to assist with this course of. The knowledge highlighted the training targets that school college students discovered significantly troublesome, which we addressed by modifying surrounding textbooks or introducing further studying instruments like movies and slideshows. The up to date Ninth Edition’s (International Student Edition) change centered on the textual content’s steady streamlining. The textbook nonetheless contains unequalled macroscopic-to-microscopic molecular graphics, constant step-by-step labored workout routines in each chapter, and a big quantity of end-of-chapter questions that present intriguing functions in engineering, medication, supplies science, and environmental research. The language and apps have all been revised to make them extra concise, the art work has been up to date to make it extra teachable and fashionable, and the design has been simplified and opened up.
