Brent L. Iverson

Professor Brent L. Iverson is a University Distinguished Teaching Professor, and the head of The University of Texas at Austin's School of Undergraduate Studies.

His work straddles the line between organic chemistry and molecular biology. His company has patented various innovations, including a late-stage anthrax treatment that has been authorised by the FDA.

Christopher S. Foote

Christopher S. Foote

Dr. Christopher S. Foote (5 June, 1935 – 13 June, 2005) was a professor of chemistry at UCLA and an expert in reactive oxygen species. He published more than 250 articles, editorials, and notes. Dr. Foote was cited over 14,000 times with an average of 450 citations per year since 1989. He was also famously known for his textbook Organic Chemistry .

The American Chemical Society gave Dr. Foote their Baekeland award in 1975, named him a Cope Scholar in 1994, and gave him the Tolman Medal in 1996. In 2000 an international symposium in honor of his 65th birthday was held in Hawaii. The Christopher S. Foote Chair of chemistry at UCLA is also named after him.

The book “Organic Chemistry 8th Edition (PDF)” by Brown is a great resource for students majoring in chemistry, health or biological sciences. In this latest edition, the authors focus on unified mechanistic themes, applied pharmaceutical problems, focused problem-solving, and biological examples. Stepwise reaction mechanisms are highlighted, with an emphasis on the four traits of breaking a bond, adding a proton, making a new bond, and taking a proton away, showcasing similarities among mechanisms. In-margin highlighted integral concepts and new end-of-chapter study guides are some of the features included to ensure student success. In addition, the book is packed with medicinal chemistry problems, challenging synthesis problems, and unique roadmap problems. Aditional ISBNs: 978-1305580350, 978-1337516402, 1337486434, 9781337486439, 1305865545, 9781305865549, 978-1337486439, 978-1305865549.
